HumaneDeerManagement is a group of citizens centered in Northern Virginia with members in other areas. We pioneered deer spay in Fairfax City, VA, in 2014 using veterinarians, a wildlife biologist, veterinary technicians, and local volunteers. This is the first non-lethal deer management program in Virginia history!
Our goal is to expand the first deer spay effort in Virginia which took place in early 2014 and show it can be used in larger areas as a better alternative to the lethal methods used by Fairfax County. The latest Fairfax City effort began on Dec 14, 2015! It lasted three days and spayed 8 more does. See our press release button on the next page for details!
We need advocates, volunteers, and money to proceed with this project. As we gain expertise we expect to drive down the cost of deer spay. Please send a tax deductible check to Pets, LTD., P.O. Box 7175, Fairfax Station, VA 22039. Put "Deer spay" on the memo line. Or, you can use Paypal.

In Dec 2013 the Fairfax City Council approved a trial for Deer Spay in their community. The effort ran from Jan 30 to Feb 6.
The photo at left was taken at a field hospital set up in the Fairfax City police station. A tranquilized doe is awaiting spay surgery which takes about 30 minutes after which she's ear tagged and returned to where she was captured. A reversal drug is administered and she is freed--but will never become pregnant again.
Deer Spay has been endorsed by the Humane Society of the U.S., the A.S.P.C.A., the Animal Welfare Institute, the Humane Society of Fairfax County, Maryland Wildlife Rescue, Inc., Blue Ridge Wildlife, and Pets LTD.
All donors will be recognized on this website!
